3 {365} A Drawing a Day...

This year, I wanted to make a resolution that was a bit different.  I still pledged to myself that I would work out more, get stressed less, and follow my budget...but more importantly I decided to do a drawing everyday.

I miss drawing...a lot.  All through high school I had art first period every morning, it was such a fantastic way to start they day and I LOVED it.  In college of course being in Architecture School meant that I started out proving my drawing abilities, but things quickly moved to more technical drawing.  Now being an Architect is a continuation of that idea.  There is so little hand and creative drawing and designing that goes into my job unfortunately.  The drawing that I do is technical and precise and there is an emphasis on perfection. {Future Architects...take note.  They don't tell you things like this...but it is still a great job to have.}

So, I decided to do a little exercise.  One drawing a day.  Some take a few seconds, some an hour.
The goals are trifold:
To draw...
To be inspired by all the little things..
To be ok with something that is imperfect...

So, on the last Sunday of each month I plan on sharing a few of my favorite drawing from the month here.  All the drawings can be seen at my Flickr.

4 Fabulous and Yellow at West Elm

CB2 isn't the only place with fantastic yellow items right now.  Check out all the awesome things at West Elm ...fantastic.

And I now have two good options for desks for our room in LA. {2x2 Console Desk and the Parsons Console Table} I am also thinking the desk I already own from West Elm may need a paint job.

3 Agent Gallery Chicago

Agent Gallery Chicago...oh man could I do damage here.  I know some people around the blogosphere think that the vintage schoolhouse look is a trend that is over done...but I disagree.  I have been obsessed with this look before I even understood what I was obsessed with, and I don't think it is going away any time soon.

1 Perch. Home.

I have mentioned my love of Perch. before...but it really is fantastic.  Perch. has such a lovely home on Magazine Street {next door to my favorite sushi restaurant Sake, in case you come for a visit} and is filled with fantastic goodies for you home.  These are some of my favorites items from their website. That glass table with the floral print is so calling my name.

I realize this sounds like an advertisement...but it isn't.  I just really like this place.

Oh, and be sure to say hi to Valorie of Visual Vamp when you stop in!

4 NOLA Street Art

A few weeks ago I decided I had to photograph this awesome street art before the grey ghost paints over them or they are covered by vegetation.   I see the pink girl all the time on my way home and I was so excited to find the black, white, and yellow girls just off Magazine Street...although I have many photographs of New Orleans, I really want to start some comprehensive documentation this spring.  This city is so amazing, I feel like after living here for almost 10 years I really should have a record of my experiences.

2 Leather Feather Headband!!

I have to give a big shout out to Ez of Creature Comforts this morning...here is why:

Every since I posted about these headbands back in November, I haven't stopped thinking about them.  However, I just couldn't justify $24 plus shipping for a headband, no matter how great it is.  After Christmas I seriously thought about splurging, but they had sold out of the brown one, which is the one I really wanted.

Then, this morning I see Ez's fantastic post on Black and White and Naturally Patterned, which is awesome enough in itself...but it has a link to Thief and Bandit's Etsy Shop, which I had no idea even existed; where my headband is not only in stock, but cheaper, and has free shipping! Wohoo!

So thanks Ez!  I can't wait to wear this headband...it is going to be PERFECT for my Muses costume during Mardi Gras, which is just around the corner! Yay!

I am way excited for this early on a Wednesday morning....
