1 Congrats Brit Brit!

My good friend (those words don't begin to describe our relationship) Brit is graduating from college this weekend. She is one the smartest and most hard working people I know. There are big things lying ahead if her...the first being a move to LA!

That means {Black.White.Yellow.} is getting an awesome roommate! And it's officially time to move out of my parent's house...again. I can't tell you how excited I am!

Congrats Brit! I love you very much! I can't wait for our LA adventures to begin...

I love these rings and earrings from Hygge & West for two reasons.

1. I like simple jewelry and I have been looking {as I have mentioned} for a new ring that is a little different.

2. They look very similar {although not quite as good} as a pair of vintage earrings that my good friend BritBrit has. If I didn't love her so much, I would hold her down and steal them from her, I like them that much...

2 Typical New Orleans Night

Nights like last night are ones you never want to forget. My friends and I ate at one of our favorite restaurants Jacquimo's {first picture}, then went to the Maple Street Bar {other three pics}, and to Monkey Hill. It wasn't a particularly eventful night, just a good time, spent with great friends, in an amazing city.

If you even come to New Orleans, you MUST eat at Jacquimo's. Not only is the food amazing, it is so representative of the city. Getting a table is an event {although we have amazing luck just walking right in- go early}. You may have to wait an hour or two, as it is tiny, but it is worth it. You will either walk through the kitchen to get to your table, eat outside, or in the back of the pick-up truck in front {I'm not kidding}. There is plenty to drink at the bar next to the hostess stand or next door at the Maple Street Bar {You have to go here when you eat at Jacquimo's. Jack is known to bring appetizers over from next door. Last night the bartender was dressed as a showgirl and there was confetti EVERYWHERE- including the toilets.}. The tables are so close together that you can barely get into your seat, but don't worry you neighbors will be friendly and you will get to know them at some point in the meal. It is perfect for any occasion {you can dress however you like} and a must if you visit the city.

1 Yellow Gifts!

So my good friend and co-worker Kelli had this fantastic idea to give out flowers in recycled can vases Monday morning at work. It was such a pleasant surprise, and really made Monday a little easier to deal with...

I actually had a little thank you gift for her for letting me tag along with her family during the hurricane...I think the little guy on the front is uber cute!




Kelli is actually on roll on this whole inexpensive gifts with a big impact thing...This was the gift that she gave me last week for hosting our Project Runway viewing party. The cupcake is so adorable and I love the little vintage-esq yellow mini baking dishes. Thanks Kelli...

0 Just Cuteness

I wanted to share these adorable pics of two very cute little girls. The first is Molly, her mom Amy sent me her picture in this really cute little black, white, and yellow top. {and thanks to Amy for her kind note!} The second is Addie, Kelli's daughter and my tiny bff. She loves to shop and was all too eager to pose with the outfit that she had chosen for herself. Both so, so cute.

2 Road Home from Hurricane Gustav

After a stressful and eventful week, I am home. I wanted to thank everyone for their well wishes. Thankfully, everything everyone and everything is safe. For this I am grateful, so I will just list some of the highs and lows of the week that I will never forget:

+ Spending time with Kelli {the best hurricane packer ever} and every branch of her family possible {Thanks Kelli!}

+ Having to go through all of your belongings, deciding what to bring knowing there is a possibility you will never see the rest of it again. This definitely makes you realize that your belongings are not really all that important...

+ Enjoying Natchez, Mississippi

+ Knock You Naked Margaritas from Fat Mamas

+ Spending of the most terrifying and uncomfortable night of my life at a co-workers farm in Mcomb, Mississippi with no electricity during a hurricane {moooooo...}

+ Rear ending Kelli's husband due to...well due to extenuating circumstances {luckily there was no damage, or this would not be as funny as it is now...}

+ Kay's "Come to Jesus Meeting" {involving three upset girls, two screaming children in strollers, and three beers...}

+ Searching for hours for alcohol only to find we were in a dry county {twice} {this is something we can just not understand being from New Orleans...when you are in dire stress, you really need some vodka}

+ The generosity of people you barely know...

+ The amazingness that is On Star...so worth it...

+ The Jesus and Mary on a mountain yard sculpture

+ The Tchotchke yard {because everyone should have two sets of lions guarding their property}...Picayune, Mississippi is a very strange place

+ Awesome vintage finds {more to come...}

+ Crossing the Louisiana/Mississippi border no less than 30 times in one week

+ Eating every meat possible even though you are a vegetarian {and it was delicious}

+ Returning home to find your significant other that is too stubborn to leave town with you {and thus inducing numerous panic attacks} safe and sound in bed...

3 Our Office is Going Green...

My friends {and co-workers} and I have started a recycling program at work! Since we don't have curbside recycling in New Orleans, we had to work a little harder to find ways to recycle. This is something that we have wanted to do for a while, but the last few weeks things have really fallen into place. Our aluminum cans, plastic bottles, and glass can be dropped off at Whole Foods, which is conveniently located across the street. The paper project was a bit more difficult, but today we found the perfect place about 10 minutes from our office. The people that worked there were so nice and helpful. We kind of had fun, there were mounds of paper everywhere, and a huge box of Jif labels that we thought were really awesome. My favorite pic is definitely the action shot....

0 Dawn's Wedding {Fort Worth}

I had so much fun at Dawn and Taylor's wedding. It was perfect...the ceremony was done in the round which created a really intimate environment. Dawn's family is my second family in Texas, so it was wonderful to see them and be a part of the wedding. Weren't our kelly green dresses cute...

By the way, my favorite picture is the one in the middle, my two partners in crime {my other best friend from high school, Matt and one of Dawn's best friends from college, Kate} drinking and dancing...it's always so wonderful to see old friends...
