3 Black, White, and Yellow Rooms...

So, my grandmother {hi Gram!} {who lives about 600 miles away in Texas} calls me and tells me she redid her bedroom and sunroom. Then I get these pictures. Do you think maybe I am rubbing off on her a bit?

Oh, and I didn't even show you what happened at my sister's graduation...My mom, grandmother, and I all got dressed separately, and showed up looking like this: {and here is a fun picture of me and my friends too}

2 I'm Off...

I am headed to meet my family in South Padre Island, Texas. This was our annual vacation spot when we lived in Texas, so it will be nice to go back. I'll be back in a week, hopefully tan and relaxed.

This week {starting Monday} I have scheduled posts featuring some of my favorite Etsy Sellers. Many sellers are offering generous discounts, so make sure to check back everyday! I hope you enjoy and pick up some new Etsy Goodies!

2 Happy Easter!

I hope everyone has a wonderful Easter. This weekend has brought a welcomed sense of peace after a roller coaster week. I wanted to thank everyone for their kind comments after my last post. Thankfully, late this week everything turned out ok.
Now on to happier things:
2. Yesterday I did the Crescent City Classic! I'm a little bit sore today, but really proud that I completed it. {We mostly walked, although we did skip across the finish line...and yes I mean skip like you learned to do in Kindergarten}
3. I spent my day off work on Friday to do a little mini living room cure {no new furniture}...pics to come
4. I booked a trip to LA for the weekend after next to see the family, which always lifts my spirit!

My little sister turned 18 today. My mom and I decided this makes us feel old. I will always think of her as a kindergartner. She has always made us proud and kept us entertained. Happy Birthday Lulu!

2 Staycation with the Lulu

The Lulu and I had lots of fun while she was is New Orleans this week. It was actually like a little staycation for me, which I really enjoyed. We explored the city: shopping on Magazine, the French Market, playing in the Quarter, eating beignets at Cafe Du Monde, visited the Aquarium and the Insectarium (more to come on this one) saw an IMAX movie, visited a cemetery, and spent the night at the W.

We ate lunch and had Pimm's Cups at Napoleon House {one of my favorite places in the city}. Lu is a mostly vegetarian {more mostly that I am} but she couldn't resist eating a salami poor boy. I tried to document this, but she hid the evidence under her napkin, and then got upset because I wouldn't let her eat it in peace. Tehehe...

4 Playroom Mini Cure / Weekly Flowers/ The LULU is HERE!

In preparation of my little sister arriving for a visit in NOLA. The playroom got a little mini cure that included:
-Hemming the curtains...finally!
-Organizing the craft supplies and my new goodie box from Decor8
-Cleaning off the desk
-Finally replacing the TV remote control that broke like two years ago
-New flowers from my favorite flower lady at the farmer's market
-Ribbon loops sewn on bath towels
-Lots of laundry
-A multi-day search for the perfect affordable summer weight blanket (which turned out to be a very light down alternate blanket in a Jonathan Adler duvet cover)
-New artwork on the art wall...much more vibrant now. Several of the items are from the Inspiration Box!
-A little gift of Burt's lip gloss and Lotion
And now I'm off to play....

1 Los Angeles Bedroom Inspiration

When I was in college at Tulane, my family moved from Fort Worth, TX to Los Angeles so my little sister could pursue a career in dance. Not long after moving there, they purchased a great two bedroom townhouse in Culver City. The bones and the spatial layout are fantastic, but they are ready to do some updating. There are great high sloping ceilings with exposed beams and hardwood floors, but the bathrooms and kitchen are a bit outdated and not quite our style. My dad {who is currently restoring historic homes in Pasadena} already redid the downstairs half bath into a very serene little space...it's fantastic. {pics to come}

One room that needs work is my sisters room. Next year she is going to college, so I plan on turning it into OUR room. {I don't feel bad about this at all because when I went to college, my bedroom became her dance studio, and then her bedroom.} Right now when I go to visit, I sleep an air mattress on her floor. We need to make it more conducive to us both sleeping there. I'm thinking twin beds or a cleverly hidden second bed. The ceiling is so tall, that we need some verticality. I'm thinking tall bookshelves behind the beds with our collected treasures and art work. One thing that won't be difficult is the color palette: she loves black and white too...So, this begins my inspiration collection:
