1 Mardi Gras!

We had a completely fantastic trip to New Orleans for Mardi Gras.  It really was such a soul refreshing trip.  I so enjoyed our time with our great friends in a city that I love so much.  We had a blast, especially walking in the Societe of St. Anne (we were the real housewives of mumbai!).  It's was hard to choose my  favorite images, be sure to check out my instagram to see more...

0 Happy New Year!

I hope everyone had a wonderful New Years!  I spent time with great friends in New Orleans and had a fantastic time.  Gold sparkles, fireworks, sparklers, champagne, and dancing...all things that make me very happy!

I'm very exciting to get back to regular blogging.  This week I'll be sharing spaces of some of my fellow bloggers that are constant sources of inspiration.  I also have a giveaway or two in the works for the near future.  I hope you enjoy!

1 Congrats Brit Brit!

My good friend (those words don't begin to describe our relationship) Brit is graduating from college this weekend. She is one the smartest and most hard working people I know. There are big things lying ahead if her...the first being a move to LA!

That means {Black.White.Yellow.} is getting an awesome roommate! And it's officially time to move out of my parent's house...again. I can't tell you how excited I am!

Congrats Brit! I love you very much! I can't wait for our LA adventures to begin...

0 I'm Off...

To New Orleans for one of my best friends' graduation celebration! I can't wait to see all my friends and visit my favorite places {and eat lots of great food, of course}. I'll be back blogging on Monday, but I'll be tweeting about my trip while I'm away!

Congrats Brit!

1 Sparklers!

Sparkler fun from the 4th of July! We had such a good time grilling out, watching fireworks, and playing with sparklers...I was playing with my camera settings and got some cool images.  I'll post the rest on my flickr account if you'd like to see...

I can't quite decide how I feel about the Alligator House designed by New Orleans based Architects Building Studio...what do you think?

Found thanks to Apartment Therapy. {You can read about the debate there.}

4 I Opened the Door!

I have now lived in my apartment for 8 months, and today I accidentally figured out how to open the second door to my balcony...my living room feels twice as big now.  I'm so excited!

In my defense, the lock/handles on these doors are very strange. I tried to open the second door right after I moved it, but it wouldn't budge.  I thought maybe it was a fixed door, or um something....I don't know I guess I never really thought about it again.

Don't judge...I'm having a blonde day.  Earlier I went to work without my purse that actually contained my wallet.

5 Hunter Wellingtons

Um, I could really use some Hunter Wellingtons to wear with my new dress tomorrow...I'm going to search for some after work.  I hope they fit my shapely calves...

*Update* Unfortunately our search was unsuccessful.  Apparently everyone had the same idea, and they are all sold out.  But I will get them eventually....

2 Hurricane Poster Project

I came across this a few weeks ago, and although I am sure I have seen it before I don't think I ever posted about it.  The time after Katrina is such a blur in my mind.  This reminds me of all the kind things that people did during that time...
THE HURRICANE POSTER PROJECT sought limited edition sets of hurricane-related posters from high-profile and up-and-coming artists, designers, and firms from the United States and abroad. The donated posters were sold online, and all profits went directly to the Red Cross.

1 Mardi Gras!

It is alway bittersweet when Mardi Gras comes to an end.  I have to say though that this may be one of my most favorite Mardi Gras seasons ever.  The culmination was Mardi Gras day when we walking in the Saint Anne Parade with one of most favorite co-workers and friend Michael and his lovely wife Tamra.  It was amazing...there are too many pics to post here, but I am working on uploading them to my flickr account.  The theme for our group was music...so we were the Bear(ly) Naked Ladies. I think it cam out super cute {especially considering it was FREEZING outside in the morning}.  If you have never been to Mardi Gras in New Orleans, it is definetly something you should see in your lifetime...

5 Morten Holtum

Very lovely images from photographer Morten Holtum...

Things are going to be a little slow around here for a little bit.  I am in a bit of a Who Dat Haze today {this will likely last a few days, we have the celebration Saint's parade after work tomorrow}.

It is also Mardi Gras!  Thursday is the Krewe of Muses parade {aka my favorite day of the year...yes better than Christmas} and then Tuesday is Mardi Gras, when we will be marching in the Krewe of Saint Anne.  Plus, some other great parades in between.  AND, I need to finish two costumes for the occasion...I hope to have to great pictures for you next week!

0 Who Dat @ Burke Decor...

Check out all the fantastic items in the Who Dat Saints Boutique at Burke Decor...free shipping and 20% off $250 purchases are great deals!

Go Saints!

{Side Note}  Sorry non football fans...I myself have never been a big football fan, but it is IMPOSSIBLE to live in this city and not be a Saints fans.  New Orleaneans, for being so laid back, have the biggest hearts and are so absolutely passionate about everything they do.  Between this game and Mardi Gras (happening simultaneously) this city is crazy right now...

1 Perch. Home.

I have mentioned my love of Perch. before...but it really is fantastic.  Perch. has such a lovely home on Magazine Street {next door to my favorite sushi restaurant Sake, in case you come for a visit} and is filled with fantastic goodies for you home.  These are some of my favorites items from their website. That glass table with the floral print is so calling my name.

I realize this sounds like an advertisement...but it isn't.  I just really like this place.

Oh, and be sure to say hi to Valorie of Visual Vamp when you stop in!

4 NOLA Street Art

A few weeks ago I decided I had to photograph this awesome street art before the grey ghost paints over them or they are covered by vegetation.   I see the pink girl all the time on my way home and I was so excited to find the black, white, and yellow girls just off Magazine Street...although I have many photographs of New Orleans, I really want to start some comprehensive documentation this spring.  This city is so amazing, I feel like after living here for almost 10 years I really should have a record of my experiences.

0 Jacket in a Packet....

After having the rainiest month EVER in New Orleans last month, I decided a rain jacket was in order.  Old Navy's Jacket in a Packet was too cute to pass on...I am a sucker for things that fold into small packages.
