4 Playroom Mini Cure / Weekly Flowers/ The LULU is HERE!

In preparation of my little sister arriving for a visit in NOLA. The playroom got a little mini cure that included:
-Hemming the curtains...finally!
-Organizing the craft supplies and my new goodie box from Decor8
-Cleaning off the desk
-Finally replacing the TV remote control that broke like two years ago
-New flowers from my favorite flower lady at the farmer's market
-Ribbon loops sewn on bath towels
-Lots of laundry
-A multi-day search for the perfect affordable summer weight blanket (which turned out to be a very light down alternate blanket in a Jonathan Adler duvet cover)
-New artwork on the art wall...much more vibrant now. Several of the items are from the Inspiration Box!
-A little gift of Burt's lip gloss and Lotion
And now I'm off to play....

2 Apartment Therapy Cure Spring 08 {To-Do List}

Ok, here is my goal list and floor plan for the Spring Cure...

Living Room
- A new coffee table...luckily this Cure extends through Bonus Check season, so this might actually be a possibility this time
- A rug to go under said coffee table
- A new couch cover...I'm thinking about making this myself...or maybe a new couch??
{this is unlikely due to budget constraints, but one day} I have a temporary cover over the original cover- they both need to go...

- Address the DVD storage issue...its bad when th bf actually asks me to go by something... {it doesn't look so bad in the picture, but the DVD's are stacked three rows deep right now and there are more hidden behind the TV}
-Deal with the awkward wall next to the TV where the return air and thermostat are located.
-Paint!?? I would love to paint some accent walls/areas...but I do rent...not that that stopped me from painting the bedroom...

Desk Area
-Create display area behind computer...fabric covered cork? or maybe homosote a la Shiso Mama?
-Lighting
-Freshen the objects on the shelves above the computer

Kitchen
-Curtain
-Lighting

Bathroom-Light Switch Project...I already have the supplies for this project..its an hour long project...

Bedroom

-New Duvet {check}
-New curtains now that the ones from the Fall Cure don't match my new Dwell bedding...{Honestly, as excited as I was about them during the Fall Cure, they just aren't working somehow...I might try to repurpose them as the couch cover?}

Play Room
-Hem curtains that I put up during the Play Room Cure {I've decided I like them.}

Closet
-Storage via shelving...the current shelves and our extra sheets, blankets, and towels are in a big pile in the floor... we had a little mishap...

Misc.
-Get a new vacuum cleaner...as of Sunday ours is officially dead. {My birthday is in two weeks, if any family members are reading this, all I want is a Dyson Vacuum Cleaner!!!}

5 Play Room Cure

The play room is finally re-cured! I was avoiding re-arranging due to the addition of the dreaded gigantic entertainment center that had to be moved to this room after we got the flat screen in the living room- but actually it turned out quite good I think. The entertainment center now serves as storage for books, art and craft supplies, the old printer and tv, and displays some vases, pictures, and serving trays. By using it on the side wall, it isn't the focus of the room, which really helps and makes it look not so huge. The chaise got shifted against the french doors, which provide great reading light, and I hung my newly acquired artwork. I also hung my new Hedda curtains from Ikea...I'm still trying to decide if I like them here (which is why they haven't been hemmed or ironed). They definitely add a lot of color to the room, but they are also a lot heavier than the previous curtains. The desk is now much clearer, since many of the supply storage boxes now live on the entertainment center. They wall cubes that formerly held books now display pretty boxes, journals, and yarn and colored pencils in glass jars...

4 The Cure Continues...

Here are the latest Cure results...The bar finally got papered with my favorite Snow and Graham Wallpaper. Now the bookcase and bar look more cohesive. The bookcase arrangement also got a bit of a revamp. And the new TV found a home on a new parsons style entertainment center. We still need dvd display/storage {they are stacked three rows deep right now, plus some are still stacked on the side}. We are thinking maybe a wall hung shelf above the TV, as the wall looks quite empty now that the tall entertainment center is gone. The playroom is still not quite arranged since it gained the big entertainment center, but we'll get there eventually...

{Update}

And I decorated for X-mas. Yes, our tree is 12" tall and black and white...

0 Play Room Craft Area

One of my favorite spaces in our apartment is my play room craft area. It was a result of my spring AT Cure, and I'm really happy with the way it is developing. The desk was a Craigslist

find and the Pagholz chairs were a bargain at Neophobia, a local mid-century vintage furniture store.

This is my favorite organizer. It is a metal dry erase board from the Target clearance bin, with magnetic canisters from World Market. They are the perfect size for ribbons, thread, pins, etc.

This is one of my favorite projects: fabric covered button pushpins. The idea came from Jessica at How About Orange. She has a great tutorial here. This a very relaxing and fun project, that has also indulged my love of fabrics... Right now I'm working on a batch to send to my Grams.
