0 Malibu Beach Home

This home in Malibu feels like it could also be at home in the desert. I love...well everything.  The wood, black, and white, contrasting with the open lightness, and the furnishing...perfection.

1 Peggy Credenza

This is such a good example of a well made, simple piece of furniture.   l love the contemporary take on mid century modern design.

That cactus is pretty fantastic too.  You know I can't resist a good succulent/cactus.

3 Mid Century Dining Room

I can't stop thinking about this dining room that I found on Redneck Modern.  My parents recently bought a mid century house with an awesome view, but like many mid century homes it needs some love.  Despite the fact that more than half of the exterior walls are glass curtain walls, all the original wood makes it feel dark.  That's why I think Bret and Mary Peyton's home makes perfect inspiration. They successfully balanced the rich wood paneling with clean shiny whites and bright pops of color. Love the art, by the way. Just perfect.

3 Palm Springs House...

I will be returning to the real world tonight, unfortunately...I would really like to just stay here indefinitely.  We've been staying in a 1963 Wexler Harrison home, which is really awesome.  The yard and pool are incredible.  We will definitely be staying here again (until my parent's buy us our own house here, hopefully in a couple of years).  I'll be happy to share the info on renting this house, just email me.

Returning to the real world also means that it is time for me to officially move! So I will continue to apologize if things are a little light around here...but I will have new home adventures to follow along with soon!

1 The Home of Frederic Malle from Architectural Digest

Let's play a little game of ignore the carpets, shall we.  Instead I will imagine those lovely wood floor extend throughout this house, that is filled with awesome eclectic finds.  {Side note: wtf were they thinking in that master bedroom?}

Who wants to give me one of those leather Arne Jacobsen Egg chairs?  Anyone, anyone?

1 Norma's at the Parker Palm Springs...

We are still having fun in Palm Springs...I absolutely love it here.

My sister and her friend Emily left after the weekend, and we said goodbye to Brit this morning :( So now it's just me and my mom for the rest of the week.

We like it here so much we have actually been on the lookout for a great deal on a house for a possible vacation home, how fantastic would that be? Even if we don't buy a house, we will definitely be back here soon...

So here is what we've been up to:

Lots of relaxing in and by the pool {It is HOT here.} I'm super tan, which makes me very happy.  I actually look like I might be alive again, and since I'm finally eating and sleeping again, I kinda feel alive too....very good things.

Vintage shopping...some fantastic finds! I got a fabulous blue vintage belt with gold leaf buckle, a great whale planter, and a so so lovely vintage Glen of California dresser for my new room in LA.

Lunch at Norma's at the Parker Palm Springs...which was amazing.  We had lobster and Chilean sea bass fish and chips and lobster mac n cheese. {indulgent much?}  I could most definitely never ever leave the Parker.

Dinners at Los Casuelas and Trio...both delish.

We rode the Palm Springs Arial Tramway up to the top of the mountain.  It was kind of terrifying but the view was completely amazing.

Kinda took the self-guided driving tour of Palm Springs Architecture...we did manage to see Neutra's Kaufman House before we gave up. :)

Definitely planning on visiting the Viceroy before we leave and doing some serious sketching {I've decided it's time to resume my drawing a day sketches.}...

Hope you guys are well...I should be back to my normal schedule next week!

1 Inspiration from Dottie Angel's House

Inspiration from Dottie Angel's House...this house is totally lovely, but the two things I love the most are 1. that chair {minus that fabric, just not my style} and 2. those knitting needles in the white vases {I'm totally copying that idea.}

{I don't think I need to mention the yellow vintage accessories and fantastic turquoise graphic wallpaper, do I?}
