4 Black, White, & Yellow @ Target...

After being car-less for three weeks, I finally was able to run errands today. I was quite excited to go to Target to get shampoo and toothpaste, and maybe find some leftover Christmas ornaments on super clearance...when voila, I see the Global Bazaar section with some amazing items...including an entire aisle of black, white, and yellow!

I was most exciting about the lamps {hmm...where could I use another lamp...} but there were also quite a few fun accessories...

I was also quite impressed with the lighting section...these are some very cool interpretations on the somewhat overdone capiz chandeliers..

Other fun items included Pillows that look somewhat like Thomas Paul pillows and fun ceramic silverware holders...I will be watching like a hawk for these to go on sale...

Other Target news: AT tells me today that Christiane Lemieux of Dwell Studios will be designing for Target next month!!! I can't describe how excited I am...

0 Project Runway {Episodes 5 +6}

I think I better catch up on Project Runway reviews before tonight's episode...

Last week's challenge produced some interesting outfits {although I thought the parameters of the challenge were not all that well defined- using food vs. wrappers vs. fabric from those pillows (by the way, who actually owns those?) causing it to be a somewhat unfair playing field...although I guess it did show who is willing to take risks and who isn't...anyway on to the clothes....

Rami {the winner}, Kit, and Ricky produced designs that utilized the products well and showed their own personal style...although that skirt that Ricky made would be quite unflattering...Jillian was the only designer brave enough to use food and while not my favorite in terms of design, turned out surprisingly well...

Chris and Christian both produced simple straightforward designs. That said, I think Christian (who finished early again and then harassed the other designers) is a talented designer, but he doesn't push himself far enough. He did push Sweet P, leading her to start over which led to a very boring dress that almost got her sent home. I thought her original design was quite interesting, particularly the belt made from broken ceramic tea cups. And then there was Elise's' "macabre Hansel" dress...um yea, not so sorry to see her go...

Episode 5 was actually a good challenge, the designers each made an outfit for a woman who had lost significant amounts of weight using her oversized garments. Christian {the winner}, Kevin, and Jillian produced tailored outfits that both complemented the women while exuding their own personal style. Chris, however, did not, causing him to get the auf wiedersehen. He produced a poorly constructed dress fit only for a funeral...made from the clients wedding dress. (Although I will say I think that was more than a bit unfair that he was given a wedding dress to work with.) It just occurred to me that if it had been well made, he totally could have presented is an antithesis to the wedding dress...a wedding vs. death duality, that he might have gotten away with...
