2 A.R.E. TIMELINE

My timeline for taking the A.R.E. and getting registered (in Texas through a loophole) is finally complete...it's nice to have a plan...

0 Tauba Auerbach

A pic from the inspiration book....and an awesome artist find...Tauba Auerbach, a SF artist who has a "fascination with the origins of language, its break-downs and slippages especially, has led her to an artistic study of language"...

0 Thomas Paul

I have been a long time fan of Thomas Paul (see my collection below). The collection has expanded beyond the pillows and melamine plates to included lamps, bags, rugs, and stationary. Sign me up for one of everything...

0 The Small Stakes Posters

I am currently lusting over several posters at The Small Stakes. This independant design studio headed by Jason Munn churns out amazing design work, mostly posters for indie rock bands. Word of caution...order them fast...Jason tells me once they are sold out, that's it, at least for now...

0 Dirty Coast T's

Dirty Coast has some of the best New Orleans T's. They are a local shop, printed on Tchoupitoulas St. The designs are really fun and amusing. I purchased the Chandelier a few months ago....New Orleans Do It Yourself will be my next purchase....

0 Wallpaper City Guides

Earlier this summer I was in Dick Blick in LA when I spotted these fabulous Wallpaper City Guides. These pocket-size design oriented travel guides have great suggestions for the hottest things to do and see in the city. They are filled with great images and I like the 48 hour tours. My favorite aspect is the design...the colors are so fun...I kind of want to collect them all. I'll restrain, but I will be picking up the Chicago edition when it comes out in October!

0 Degrees of Separation

Degrees of Separation is a bound collection of postcards created by artists in response to Hurricane Katrina. The artwork is a fantastic and appropriate reaction to the experience. The limited edition book includes 33 postcards and can be ordered from the website. These are some of my favorite postcards.

0 Kate Spade Summer Reading

How fun are these book covers from Kate Spade? I love the graphics from old book and magazine covers. You can download them for free here.

0 Black White and Green

I have always been very sensitive to cleaning products...most give me an instant headache. I have been very impressed with the Seventh Generation line of products I purchased at Whole Foods. They smell great, actually clean, and no headaches! According to the website: "All of our products are designed to work as well as their traditional counterparts, but use renewable, non-toxic, phosphate free and biodegradable ingredients, and are never tested on animals." So not only are they great for me, they are better for the environment than traditional products.

I also got some great Trader Joe products when I was in LA. I have been using their colorful dish scrubbers for years. They work great and are cheap. Their reusable lavender dryer bags are a great alternative to traditional dryer sheets. The compliment Seventh Generation's Eucalyptus and Lavender Detergent perfectly...my clothes smell great.

0 Ãœberorgan

When I was in LA last month, we visited the Getty Museum. The highlight was Tim Hawkinson's Ãœberorgan installed in the central rotunda of the entrance hall. It is essentially a massive beautiful musical instrument consisting of industrial materials, huge balloons, and horns. According to the
Getty: "The musical score for Ãœberorgan consists of a 250-foot-long scroll. Black dots and dashes encode the notes of traditional hymns, pop songs, and improvisational tunes. The notes are deciphered by light-sensitive switches in its player and scrambled to create an endless variety of compositions. " It was really quite stunning. The exhibit is in conjunction with Hawkinson's Zoopsia and runs through Sept. 9. More pics after the break...

0 Great Gifts

I recently received two fabulous suprises from my coworkers/friends...
