Inspiration for the Living Room | Low and Grey

It's time for a living room renovation at my parent's mid century modern poolhaus.  We ripped up the old green carpet last week, and have been strongly considering concrete floors. The room is long, with two walls of windows, and a long low fireplace.  Our color palette is white, grey, and wood (we have a lot of original wood details).  These images are perfect inspiration, I hope our end product looks like this.

Juice Served Here | Bells + Whistles

I like this for a number of reasons.  So first of all, I became obsessed with green juices around Thanksgiving of last year.  I got a juicer, and have had one almost everyday since. I love them.

Second, this space is awesome.  Bells + Whistles does awesome work... I love the combination of clean, bright white, warm wood, geometric shapes, and the bold graphic menu.

I finally visited the store this weekend...such a good space with delicious (looking) juices...unfortunately I didn't actually try them, as I had just had a juice down the street (of course).  Have you tried their juices?  Have a favorite?

NYC Transit Graphic Standards | Massimo Vignelli

This site is dedicated to serve as an archival record of a first edition NYCTA Graphics Standards Manual designed by Massimo Vignelli of Unimark International. The manual was found in a locker beneath old gym clothes. So freaking awesome.

Eisdieler Ice Cream Parlor | March Gut

I love the use of triangles here, and how the gradation of black and white provides the perfect backdrop for the ice cream colors to pop. So fun.

Pegasus | Rachel Comey

These shoe are weird, and I really want them. I splurged and got the Mars Ankle Boots this winter.  They are hands down the best and also my favorite shoes that I've ever owned.

Lucid Stead | Phillip K Smith

Lucid Stead is an installation in Palm Desert "composed of mirror, LED lighting, custom built electronic equipment and Arduino programming amalgamated with a preexisting structure, this architectural intervention, at first, seems alien in context to the bleak landscape.  Upon further viewing, Lucid Stead imposes a delirious, almost spiritual experience.  Like the enveloping vista that changes hue as time passes, Lucid Stead transforms.  In daylight the 70 year old homesteader shack, that serves as the armature of the piece, reflects and refracts the surrounding terrain like a mirage or an hallucination. As the sun tucks behind the mountains, slowly shifting, geometric color fields emerge until they hover in the desolate darkness. This transformation also adapts personal perception, realigning one’s sensory priorities. A heightened awareness of solitude and the measured pace of the environment is realized."
